An Important Memory for Humanity is an NFT collection by Refik Anadol exploring the adverse effects of space upon the human body.
Digital artist Refik Anadol created visually stunning artworks from anonymized data from the Inspiration 4 crew data. In partnership with //CreativeWorkStudios., SpaceX, and Baylor College of Medicine, released these art works as NFTs (non-fungible tokens).
The goal was to raise awareness and funding for St. Jude's as well as Space Health Research, as well as raising philanthropic support through public NFT auction.
($1.5M) St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the philanthropic cause for the Inspiration4 flight. It was flight mission commander Jared Isaacman’s wish that St. Jude receive the highest percentage of revenue.
($700k) Baylor College of Medicine. BCM leveraged $3M in funding the research which generated the data behind the art.
($235k) the Benge-Hury Foundation. The foundation co-funded the start of this project through a Mision Related Investment and achieved a 3X return.
